Week ending Saturday 30th March 2019
Monday 25th March   MESSAGE FROM YOUR CAPTAIN Gentlemen, the total number of entries for next week's Stableford is likely to be in excess of 70,which is brilliant.  The only downsides are that I am less likely to win and, on our current 3 ball groupings, the last group would not tee off until after 11am.  The Club Management have ruled out 2 tee starts and so your Committee opted for 4 ball starts.  It will be monitored closely and reviewed as necessary. Whilst there is no intention to "hustle" you round the golf course, please try and avoid unnecessary slow play.  The R&A websites contain plenty of common sense advice to avoid slow practice, which I don't think anyone can take exception to.  For Examples:- IF YOU ARE READY TO PLAY AND IT'S SAFE,THEN PLAY No "honour"(except in match play) The first player ready plays Players should play their own ball before helping to look for a lost ball When not playing your shot, you should be preparing to play your shot, then mark your score card. Light blue touch paper and stand back! Regards Steve Markham.
Tuesday 26th March Captains Notices Update as thus, Peter Knowles is now on ward B14 and happy to receive visitors, great news. Andrew Barnes fell off his bicycle over the festive period, breaking a knuckle and tearing ligaments in his knee but hopes to be back on Thursday. A reminder that you need your £2 'hole in one' club money paid by the 1st of April, otherwise you are not covered. The result of the fourball today was Captain 9-1/2, Vice Captain 6-1/2. This means the Vice has it, the Vice has it with 32 points overall to the Captains 30.  Steve congratulated Stuart on his 'achievement. A happy loser presents the trophy

Thursday 28th March Captains notes for today.  New members please beware to have two signatures on score cards, plus ALL top sections filled in! First win of the year for seniors team on Wednesday. Had a four ball lesson with James Close today, very informative and we all benefited.  Special rates for fours, see him in the shop. Winnings.  If anyone wins money, two's comp, front or back nine or overall win and they are not there at presentation, the money will be credited to their bar account and a receipt put in the 'black box', we are getting far too much money hanging about in the box and it is not fair on the organiser nor the staff. There were 46 players today for the format of 3 on the first 6, 2 on the second 6 and 1 on the third 6.  Front nine was won by John Phipps with 22 ACB.  The back by Dave Waddell with 23.  Overall win was Dave, Kenny Windsor and John Brunning with a score of 84. Thanks to Dave Wilson first thing and John Adkins for results. Skip. Top of the page
