PITCH MARKS We have arrived at that time of year again when we need to be reminded to repair our pitch marks. The greens are now soft and if you manage to put a towering ball on to the green it is going to leave a crater of some size. So let’s get into the habit of repairing any pitch marks we come across on the greens. Click here to view how to do this correctly.

Tuesday 12th March The March winds continue to batter the country so Captain Markham used his loaf and postponed round two of the Captain’s Challenge. His foresight saved everyone a buffeting and a good soaking. It has been agreed that the Fourball round of the Challenge will now take place on Tuesday 26 th  March. The draw will remain ‘as is’ as far as possible. Update on Peter Knowles. Peter is now out of I.C.U. and is on ward A4.  He has good days and bad days, but is sleeping a lot. He has long uphill struggle. We all wish him well. Keeping your eye on the weather, will see you as soon as it is playable. oooOOOooo Thursday 14th March Twenty one players braved the gale force winds to play in the roll up qualifier. Seven new members also went out  but were not in the competition. Three players came in with a NR card and the scores in general were well down on normal. Divisions were amalgamated and the results were:              1st place with 34 points                 John Adkins.     2 nd  with 33 points Ian Rice.   3 rd  with 31 points Reg Parker. 2’s competition. There were no winners today, so all the prize money went into the Captains Charity. On the Course. Jerry the Jolly trolley chaser had his bag blown over at least seven times, much to the amusement of ex Captain John Adkins. Update on Peter Knowles, he continues to show some improvement but is still very poorly. Frank Thibault paid us a visit for a coffee. Anyone who would like some new equipment, he has put a notice on the board with some very attractive pricing. oooOOOooo Top of page
